Training provided by Dr Kerry Hampton of Wise Woman Business. Training consisted of a 6 month course – two 1 month intensives, self-paced course work and 1x 4000 word referenced assignment due at the end of month 6.

Teaching mostly aligned with the Billings method and required that we read the Billings method manual, but wasn’t strictly Billings.

Single check sympto-thermal method was taught as part of course module two.

Prior to completing training under Dr Hampton I was self-taught using Taking Charge of Your Fertility for my own use.

I chose to complete training under Dr Hampton as it was my desire to complete training that was delivered in a way that wasn’t strongly affiliated with any religious groups. I also teach in a secular way that is suitable/adaptable to people of any beliefs and sexualities.

I use predominantly Billings method guidelines for teaching mucus and knowledge drawn from published literature, TCOYF, and my training with Kerry to advise on temperature taking. I use the 3 over 6 rule plus peak +3 to confirm ovulation if both biomarkers are being used.

It is my intention to engage in more mentoring in the fertility awareness space later this year with the Fertility Knowledge Collective and possibly also Dr Hampton’s monthly inner fertility circle.

I get participants to fill in a detailed form when they book in for my training course. If their particular fertility situation would make charting difficult, they wish to use methods I’m not trained in, or have a complex fertility situation that falls outside my scope I would refer on before admitting them.
