I am from Latvia and have been teaching fertility awareness methods for almost 18 years. My native language is Latvian, and I mainly teach clients and lead courses in Latvian, although I am writing in English because Latvian is probably not widely encountered in this context. I am also able to consult clients in English and Russian.
I first learned about fertility awareness when my husband and I were preparing for marriage in 1993. I remain deeply grateful that this knowledge came to me at that time, in the form of a small booklet. Since then, throughout our nearly 33 years of marriage, we have lived according to these methods. All five of our children were planned, loved, and eagerly awaited.
After the birth of our youngest son, I realized that I wanted to deepen my knowledge so that I could share this gift with others. In 2008, I completed teacher training together with my husband, with our little baby somewhere in the background, and received my NFP teacher certification. I then gradually began teaching clients, first individually and later through organized courses.
Over time, I became so deeply interested in this field that I decided to expand my medical knowledge as well. I trained as a midwife, and today I work as a certified midwife, caring for pregnant women, attending births, making postpartum visits, and leading childbirth education and exercise classes for expectant mothers. Alongside this work, I have continued teaching and promoting fertility awareness.
Together with several like-minded colleagues, I helped found the Family Ecology Institute. Our organization educates users in fertility awareness methods, especially the symptothermal double-check method, through both in-person and online courses, and also trains teachers who can pass this knowledge on to others. We are a member of EIFLE (European Institute for Family Life Education), through which we represent fertility awareness teachers in Latvia, continue our professional development, build international connections, and participate in annual assemblies and conferences, including giving presentations.
I have also studied the Billings Ovulation Method, although I am not currently certified to teach it. In 2024, I learned about FEMM from colleagues in Lithuania, and it immediately caught my attention. I was especially interested in the fact that FEMM offers not only teacher training, but also the possibility of becoming a medical provider and helping women with cycle disorders and women who wish to conceive.
In 2025, I became a certified FEMM teacher and later also completed the medical provider training. I continue to work actively in this field. I organize online fertility awareness courses, involve other teachers as lecturers, and, together with my team, help organize continuing education and recertification for teachers. At my workplace, the Family Heart Clinic, I also provide individual fertility management consultations.
I also give lectures at various events about women’s cycles and about the beauty of being a woman, with our hormones and our own changing inner seasons.
